Time

I wake up and take care of Amalea from the time she wakes up until around noon.  During that time, she’ll take a nap or two, and she’ll play a lot these days on the floor by herself.  Around noon, Robin comes home and I go to work.  It’s been this way ever since Robin went back to work.

It IS a really great setup.  I have time with Amalea in the morning, which I absolutely treasure, and I still can keep my job and work in the afternoons.  My time with Robin has been significantly reduced, but we still find time to be together.

The only problem really, is that there just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day.  I feel like by the time I get to work, it’s already 1… I do a few things and before I know it, it’s 5 or even 6.  Even on the weekends (which for me is really Friday and Saturday), time just blows by me…

All of this has caused the last few months to flyyyyyyy by.  It has also made me realize how much I need to be more organized and intentional at how I spend my time.  I’m the kind of person who takes forever to do really simple tasks because I’ll either get distracted, or do the task leisurely, or I’ll put too much effort into something that really shouldn’t be that important.  And then before I know it, these simple things take up most of my day.  Like yesterday, I went to work for the first time since getting back from Mexico and Portland, and I needed to clean my office.  By the time I realized how much time had passed, it was time to go home and I hadn’t even planned that nights Jr. High meeting.  (Luckily God is bigger than me and the night turned out to be really good… we talked about obedience)

I just wish God had made the days with more hours in them… or at least made it so we didn’t need as much sleep.  I guess I could move to Northern Alaska (where its light all day) and have a steady diet of energy drinks.  On second thought… maybe I’ll just do less.
