As I sit here looking at art in a pretty “artistic” coffee shop, it hits me:
The difference between an artist looking at art and a regular person looking at art, is that the regular person enjoys the beauty of good art and is thankful for it, where as an artist envies good art and wishes he/she had created it. Both think the good art is beautiful, but the feeling it conjures up inside is much different.
Thus it sucks being an artist sometimes – because it takes the joy out of just enjoying a peice of art.
That is painfully true. I cannot tell you how many Fall catalogs I’ve been looking at, drooling over new clothes and wishing I had the know how to sew them myself.
