My first…and only…

…sermon.  For your listening pleasure.

A former student of mine was staying with us recently, on a journey through the northwest, came across this sermon cd in a box of dvd’s we were looking through, and he exclaimed to me:

Dude!  Do you know that this sermon changed my life?  I’m serious.  This was the first time that I realized you could be a Christian and be a liberal.

Haha.  I’m not sure what he meant by that… in my opinion, it’s not super “liberal” – but I recently listened to this sermon again and I realized two things.

1. It was a great reminder of why I love jesus still, and always will, because of his unending love.

2. Why I only preached one sermon.  Haha.  Not sure they wanted me up there after that… AND… I don’t think I had anything else to say.

Take a listen… it’s about a half an hour long.  Or download it here to listen later.

NOTE: I was super nervous…remember I am giving this sermon to a suburban southern californian church who is probably 80% republican and pro-war… so don’t judge.

I have to say, sermons that bring the love of Jesus to life make me so proud of my faith. Thank you for sharing this Jim. It is beautiful. And I firmly remember when I realized faith could be all-loving and liberal. It didn’t have to be brimstone, sin and hell.
