I started my new job last Friday at this web design company in Downtown Portland, and yesterday I started a new set of after school classes with a web design class.
So yesterday I took Amalea to day-care, drove to downtown and worked a few hours, then drove to Lake Oswego to teach this web design class to three jr. high girls. On my way home, as I drove along the Willamette River through the thick river front trees I thought about how much I love it here, and how thankful I am that I moved.
I felt, driving along these newly familiar streets, the feeling that many people who move to Thousand Oaks probably feel, but I never would because I grew up there… the feeling of something new, something uniquely your own. A place that you’re excited to be, and roads you love to drive – rather than a place you’re dreading, and streets that make you tired.
I realized, there are most likely people in Portland that feel the same way about Portland, as the way I felt about Thousand Oaks… well, to each his own.
I love it here.
