Being a parent is the strangest thing in the world.
It is also the most normal and elemental thing us humans (and the animals) do. If you are reading this, you have parents. Every human on this planet has parents.
Some are good. Some are bad. Some are horrible.
Some are alive. Some are dead.
Some live nearby. Some live far away.
Some you wish you would never have to see again.
Some you wish you could see everyday.
Whatever the case… everyone in the world may not become a parent, but everyone in the world has parents. Strange.
So whatever you’re opinion is of having kids… however you feel about the thought of children and the responsibility they bring… the fact is, being a parent is the single most important job in the world. Without parents, you would not be. We would not be. Good or bad. We would not be.
I guess this is what I have been thinking about.
Our second child is due in less than three weeks. She could come any day, really. Our family will soon be a family of four. How strange and wonderful new life is. How beautiful this adventure is. How *@&!ing scary it is to be responsible for these little girls’ lives.
I am looking forward to the warmth of holding two beautiful girls in my arms as they swoon over their daddy. I am looking forward to the 2am feedings. I am looking forward to the stages… the first laugh… the crawling… the falling… the tickling… and yes, the crying.
How strange it is… to feel such love.
I can’t wait to meet her!! She’s going to be beautiful just like her mama and sister
